 Stay in the Shade's Story

I was diagnosed with Melanoma in November of 2005.  Like most who are affected by cancer there was an unbelievably strong urge to join the fight.  So in May of 2006, after a long winter in and out of the hospital Stay in the Shade was born.  All I knew at first was that it was going to be an organization that is fundraising for research, increasing awareness, and helping patients and survivors.  As time passed I decided it should be tied in to getting people physically active and enjoying the outdoors.  Partially because obesity has become such a problem in the U.S. and also because of my personal passion for exercise and being outside.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to improve any part of Stay in the Shade, or any ideas for the future I would love to hear about them.  Email me at karl.stayintheshade@gmail.com
